Even though it has been a while since we last posted, and even though the new tagline for the film is Questions Will Be Answered, there are still a couple of unanswered questions in regards to the viral:

What is this CLASSIFIED page on ProjectPrometheus that we are still missing? A mishap on behalf of Weyland (as there are quite a few pages not linked there)…

The third video clip on the Project Prometheus Careers page - what’s up with that? We all thought it was going to be released in anticipation of 10.11.12., at least, as you will read below, before that plan got shelved…

This was from Fast Co.Create’s profile of the entire campaign (our recaps of which are under the Past Investment Opportunities tag) back when the movie came out. Now, what happened was, when the US Blu-ray/DVD release of the film was originally planned for 10.11.12. - October 11, 2012 by the American dating system, when Weyland Corp was incorporated, everything was building up perfectly to that point, until Fox pushed the release date to October 9, deactivating the What is 10.11.12. site (which did kind-of act as a glorified promo for the Blu-ray special features), and replaced it with this. Now, I personally really don’t think what Ignition meant by the “something new [that] happens” was just the original Blu-ray release date. The folks at Prometheus-Movie.com say that there is something definitely happening on November 10, 2012, what Europeans consider to be 10.11.12., but only time will tell what…

So, the first half of the PROMETHEUS viral campaign (codenamed on the Weyland Corp website as WCCF-73: MODULE A, standing for Weyland Corporate Communication Frequency - 2073), as of last night, was completed, so I thought it would be convenient to do a recap of the events so far…

FEBRUARY 28 - Peter Weyland’s 2023 TEDTalk, launch of the Weyland Corporation website, introduction of #weylandinvestors hashtag.

MARCH 6 - Weyland Corp website updated with new design and content, investor registration, morse code found on the About page, which was decoded to unveil an ultra-HQ still of the Orrery.

MARCH 7 - new trailer announced for Saturday March 17, by AMC.

MARCH 12 - 20 second preview of international trailer unveiled.

MARCH 17 - IMAX/WonderCon teaser leaked unveiling Project Prometheus website, Weyland Corp updated with corporate timeline, linking to /245409 password page. At WonderCon 2012, Weyland Corp business cards were handed out, with a prompt to call **WEYLAND which unveiled a new short viral teaser featuring David the android. Full US trailer 2 unveiled later that day.

MARCH 18 - International trailer 2 released.

MARCH 19 - /eridu password page discovered.

MARCH 21 - both /eridu and /245409 page passwords deciphered to reveal new UHQ stills (password pages now offline, view images on Project Prometheus main page). Investor information also revealed shortly afterwards on Weyland Corp site.

MARCH 27 - Password pages taken offline, Project Prometheus updated with links to the 3 new images (including Orrery) and in-world descriptions of how they were found; plus it is revealed there are 3 more to be found.

MARCH 28 - EMPIRE Magazine’s PROMETHEUS feaure released, Ridley Scott teases David viral video (part of WCCF-73: MODULE B, coming soon) N.B. this was teased before in an Entertainment Weekly article on March 18, after trailer 2 release.

APRIL 4 - Discovering PROMETHEUS Facebook app released, unveiling new content/images every Wednesday. N.B. Discovering PROMETHEUS isn’t strictly speaking part of the viral game and therefore is not treated as such, but they may be interlinked…

APRIL 11 - New Discovering PROMETHEUS images released. Footage screening in PARIS (cast photo here), following LONDON the day prior.

APRIL 12 - IGN reveal fourth Project Prometheus image, an ad depicting the USCSS Prometheus (the protagonists’ ship). Prometheus-Movie.com unveil fifth image, depicting the Med Pod 720i. Verizon Wireless unveils PROMETHEUS Mission Connect game, featuring new images from the film.

APRIL 13 - MSN Movies unveil sixth and final image, an ad depicting the RT01 TRANSPORT carrier. N.B. Charlize Theron not included. 

APRIL 14 - all 6 images on Project Prometheus are now filled.

So, this is it so far! When could we expect Module B, when the David viral video will be revealed? With 8 weeks to go to launch, only time will tell.
